Due to differences in battery capacity, internal resistance, and voltage, cells within a battery pack do not perform identically. The cell with the smallest capacity is more likely to be overcharged or over-discharged. Over time, this cell becomes weaker, which accelerates damage and leads to a vicious cycle of reduced overall performance.
The weakest cell directly impacts the entire pack’s charge and discharge efficiency, ultimately lowering battery capacity. A BMS without balancing is essentially a data collector—not a true battery management system.
The Balancer features an active equalization function with a continuous 1A balancing current. It transfers energy from higher-energy cells to lower-energy ones, or from the entire pack to the weakest cell. This redistribution is done through an energy storage mechanism, ensuring optimal cell consistency, extending battery life, and slowing aging.
The Daly 4S-1Amp Active Balancer optimizes the performance and lifespan of 4-cell Li-ion or LiFePO4 battery packs. Since each cell in a battery pack varies slightly in capacity, voltage, and internal resistance, weaker cells tend to overcharge or over-discharge, which lowers overall battery efficiency. To solve this issue, the Daly Active Balancer continuously transfers energy from higher-charge cells to lower-charge ones with a maximum current of 1 amp. As a result, this active equalization prevents imbalance, improves charge and discharge consistency, and significantly extends battery life. Additionally, it operates efficiently within a temperature range of -20°C to 60°C, ensuring reliable performance across different environments. Unlike passive balancing systems, the Daly Active Balancer actively redistributes energy through an internal storage mechanism, which helps maintain optimal battery health. Therefore, it plays a crucial role in enhancing battery safety, stability, and durability.
